There are worm wheel blades in power machinery and ships. Its shape is like the blade of the electric fan, which shows a certain worm shape.
When turbine and worm blades are used in hydropower stations, they are subjected to the impact of currents with sediment and bubbles, and the propellers of ships in the ocean are also subjected to the corrosion of sea water. This allows turbine blades to withstand erosion and corrosion against the side of the current. With the increase of sediment content in water, the increase of water velocity, blade rotation speed and the concentration of corrosive medium, the corrosion degree of worm wheel blade increases. The traces of corrosion are honeycomb like, which is called cavitation corrosion. This phenomenon is common and serious in the worm wheel blades of Hydrogenerators.
