Tantalum is also a rare refractory metal. Electronic industry, hard paper alloy, chemical industry and high temperature materials are four main applications. Tantalum has good corrosion resistance for most inorganic salts, inorganic acids, alkali solutions and organic reagents. Tantalum is resistant to chemical corrosion and atmospheric corrosion at temperatures below 150 ℃. Tantalum is stable to other acids except hydrofluoric acid, fuming sulfuric acid and sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid at high temperatures. The stability of tantalum in acidic and neutral media below 200 ℃ is even higher than that of gold and platinum.

Tantalum not only has special corrosion resistance, but also has good strength, impact toughness, plasticity, thermal conductivity and processing properties. Tantalum is a valuable structural material for chemical equipment.

The tantalum sheet is mainly used as lining material for chemical equipment. The chemical equipment made of tantalum clad steel plate can adapt to work in the environment where temperature and pressure vary greatly, and the cost of the equipment is greatly reduced.

If a copper layer is inserted between tantalum and steel, the excess heat can be transferred away during welding, thus protecting the corrosion-resistant surface of tantalum and the steel backing. The experiment of Henan Chalco shows that the copper layer thickness is 1.3-1.8 mm, and the tantalum layer thickness is 0.75-1.12 mm. The three layer composite plate was successfully welded by single explosion welding.
